Blackthorne • Live edge bowl

Turned from Blackthorne gifted through a neighbourly act, this bowl carries a story of storm damaged trees and the kindness that followed. The wood came from a friend’s mother who lost three trees in high winds. You cleared the garden for her and shaped a bowl from each tree. Her neighbour lost two more and you helped him as well. This piece is part of that shared moment of giving back.

The form is wonderfully tactile with a dramatic chunky rim that still shows the original chainsaw cut. It keeps a little of the tree’s history alive while the interior flows with smooth curves and rich natural colour. It works beautifully as a key or coin bowl and has a strong presence for its size.

Finished with Chestnut cellulose sanding sealer and Chestnut Microcrystalline Wax, the surface is smooth, durable and fully food and toy safe.
