Holm oak • Live edge bowl

This piece is turned from holm oak sourced from Links Hill in Lowestoft, where more than two hundred holm oak and sycamore trees were felled to clear space for a new sewage pipeline. The timber carries the story of that landscape change, and this bowl preserves a small part of it.

The form has a medium wall thickness with asymmetric sides that sit comfortably together, giving the bowl a naturally eye catching shape. A burnt live edge ring runs around the rim, adding depth and contrast against the lighter grain. The wood shows strong character with shifting tones and a grounded, earthy feel.

It is smooth to the touch and has a calm sculptural presence, making it a lovely centrepiece or a modern decorative piece full of quiet detail.

Finished with Chestnut cellulose sanding sealer and Chestnut Microcrystalline Wax, the surface is smooth, durable and fully food and toy safe.
