Horse chestnut • Live edge bowl

This bowl comes from the very first bulk load of wood you ever brought home. Huge pieces of horse chestnut collected in Halesworth, all acquired for nothing more than a donation to the local Air Ambulance Service. The exact origin of the tree is unknown, but the character in the grain tells its own quiet story.

The surface shows a soft smudged grain pattern that sits beautifully against the thin black lines of natural spalting. The contrast gives the bowl a gentle movement, almost like smoke drifting across the wood. It is one of the last pieces of horse chestnut you have left, making it a rare part of your early turning journey.

The form is open and balanced with a natural live edge that keeps the spirit of the tree intact. Finished with Chestnut cellulose sanding sealer and Chestnut Microcrystalline Wax, the surface is smooth, durable and fully food and toy safe.
