Jarrah • Circle in a square bowl

This piece is turned from jarrah reclaimed from the old groynes removed at Potters when the new rock sea defences were installed. The timber carries years of coastal weathering and has a deep rich colour that only jarrah can hold.

The form plays with contrast. A circle set within a square gives the bowl a modern sculptural feel, while the grain shifts from dark interior tones to lighter outer surfaces. The high contrast between the inside and the external faces makes the piece stand out immediately.

It is smooth and tactile with a grounded weight that feels reassuring in the hands. A simple shape with strong character, full of quiet detail and natural presence.

Finished with Chestnut cellulose sanding sealer and Chestnut Microcrystalline Wax, the surface is smooth, durable and fully food and toy safe.
