White poplar • Off balance four corner bowl

This bowl is turned from white poplar taken from a diseased tree that came down in high winds at work. The timber has a soft pale tone with gentle grain movement that suits the off balance form beautifully.

The four corner shape gives the piece a bold sculptural presence. Clean lines flow into an asymmetric rim and the shifting grain adds natural visual interest. The surface is smooth and silky to the touch and the bowl works equally well as a centrepiece or as a functional fruit bowl. It is a modern tactile piece full of quiet detail and gentle character.

Finished with Chestnut cellulose sanding sealer and Chestnut Microcrystalline Wax, the surface is smooth, durable and fully food and toy safe.
