Walnut • Live edge bowl

This walnut bowl comes from a storm fallen tree belonging to a friend. When the trunk split open it revealed a hollow core where disease had slowly reshaped the wood from the inside. What was once weakness became beauty, leaving behind rich dark patterns that run through the grain. This piece is turned from that timber and carries the story of the tree in every curve.

The bowl is large and tactile with a flowing live edge and a strong presence. It was shaped from a crotch branch formation which gives the grain a dramatic sweeping movement. The darker heart wood is exposed across the form, creating a striking contrast that draws the eye and makes the piece feel alive. It works beautifully as a large key bowl or as a centrepiece that invites people to pick it up.

Finished with Chestnut cellulose sanding sealer and Chestnut Microcrystalline Wax, the surface is smooth, durable and fully food and toy safe.
